The FC women's lacrosse team battled against some of the top programs in the country last week as the Hornets traveled to Naples, Florida to compete in the WCLA Division II National Championships.
Competing on the national stage, the Hornets battled through four tough matchups and finished 10th in the nation.
Fullerton opened nationals with a hard-fought 9-6 loss to UC San Diego on Tuesday. After trailing early, the Hornets stormed back with four third-quarter goals to make things interesting down the stretch. Brooklynn Peters led the offense with 2 goals, while Neva David matched her with 2 goals and an assist. Juliana Ramirez and Melyssa Strope also scored for the Hornets. Goalkeeper Madison Lewis finished with 7 saves.
The Hornets followed with one of the most thrilling games of the tournament on Wednesday morning with a nail-biting 10-9 loss to Air Force. The contest remained tight throughout as both teams traded blows all afternoon. Brooklynn Peters turned in a dominant performance with 4 goals, while Neva David added 3 goals with an assist. Melyssa Strope chipped in with 2 goals and 2 assists, and Madison Lewis kept Fullerton within reach with 14 saves against 24 shots faced.
Fullerton bounced back in strong fashion later in the day on Wednesday with a strong 9-4 victory over Florida Gulf Coast. The Hornets controlled the game offensively and defensively from the opening quarter and never looked back. Delaney Crile paced the attack with 4 goals, while Brooklynn Peters added 3 goals of her own. Neva David contributed a goal and an assist, while Juliana Ramirez added a goal. Madison Lewis anchored the defense with 9 saves while allowing just 4 goals in the win.
The Hornets closed out the tournament on Thursday against the College of Charleston falling 14-9 despite a big offensive effort from Peters. FC jumped out to a fast start behind Peters, but Charleston fired right back as both teams went into the half tied at 6-6. The Cougars opened the third quarter with six unanswered goals as the Hornets fell too far behind to come back in the fourth. Peters finished with 5 goals and an assist, while Neva David added a goal and an assist. Melyssa Strope, Delaney Crile, and Annie Cavener also found the back of the cage. Madison Lewis totaled 8 saves in net.
Several Hornets also earned major postseason honors following the season.
Brooklynn Peters was named a First Team All-American and Academic All-American after a standout season leading the Hornets attack at nationals and throughout the year. She has accumulated a impressive career total of 121 goals- a program best (50 in 2025 and 71 in 20206).
Amerie Jackson and Brooklyn Martinez both earned Second Team All-American honors, while Jillian Grijalva was recognized as an Academic All-American.
FC goalie Maddie Lewis broke the Hornet record for most career saves with 197.
The University of Denver captured the 2026 WCLA Division II National Championship after defeating the University of Tampa 12-8 in the title game.
The Hornets close the 2026 season with back-to-back undefeated conference titles (5-0 in 2025 and 4-0 in 2026), another national tournament run, and multiple All-American selections while growing Fullerton College women's lacrosse program into a national powerhouse.
