The FC women's lacrosse team turned a tough loss into a statement weekend with back-to-back road victories over Cal State Northridge and USC to secure the D2 Central Division championship.
After suffering a heartbreaking overtime loss at home to the University of San Diego the previous Saturday, the Hornets responded with two big wins.
FC opened the weekend on Saturday in Northridge sticking it to the Matadors with dominate 16-1 victory. The Hornets set the tone early jumping out to a 10-1 halftime lead behind a relentless offensive attack and sticky defense.
Sophomore standout Neva David led the way with 3 goals and 5 draw controls. Sarah Tirre added 3 goals and 2 assists, while Juliana Ramirez contributed 3 goals and 5 draw controls in a well-balanced offensive effort.
Multiple FC players found the back of the cage, including Delaney Crile, Brooklyn Martinez, and Annie Cavener.
Goalkeeper Madison Lewis anchored the defense allowing just one goal while recording 5 saves in a complete team performance.
The Hornets kept it rolling into Sunday's matchup against USC delivering another decisive win defeating the Trojans 13-3 in Los Angeles.
Once again, Fullerton wasted no time asserting control. Brooklynn Peters ignited the offense finishing with a team-high 3 goals. Delaney Crile added a hat trick of her own, while Anjelina Svorinich delivered a strong all-around performance with 2 goals and 2 assists.
Juliana Ramirez and Melyssa Strope each contributed key goals, helping Fullerton steadily pull away as the game progressed.
Lewis continued her strong weekend in goal recording 8 saves while limiting the Trojan's offensive rhythm.
With the win over Cal State Northridge, Fullerton officially clinched the Western Women's Lacrosse League D2 Central Division title finishing league play with a perfect 4-0 record.
Fullerton's combination of offensive firepower, strong defensive, and depth has positioned the team as a serious contender heading into the playoffs.
Up Next: The Hornets (8-4 overall, 4-0 D2 Central Division) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, March 11th when the team travels to Cal State San Marcos for an 11:00 am. matchup.
