Sophomore night was a success on Wednesday night.
Sophomore night was a success on Wednesday night.

The Hornet volleyball team took the court for what would be their final home game of the season on Wednesday evening as they set to face off against Saddleback College.

It was sophomore night in the South Gym. Samaria Longstreet, Priscilla Gutierrez and Saylor Frew would be playing their last home game at Fullerton. The coaches honored the three sophomores before the game started.
Fullerton, coming off two tough losses against Cypress and Riverside in the last week was looking to get back into the win column and finish the season off as strong as possible.

As the match opened, Saddleback fell behind and could not climb their way back against the Hornets. Fullerton would post a big set win as they set the tone early with a score of 25-16.

Saddleback was able to find their groove come set 2. Proving to be a much closer game between the two sides, the Gauchos narrowly edged out FC by a score of 25-23, evening the match at 1 set each.

The back and forth between the Hornets and Gauchos was a running theme of this match. The teams would go on to split sets 4 and 5, sending the match to yet another game 5 for FC this season, and their third in the last 5 matches.

This time, Fullerton would come out victorious, dominating that fifth set and sending the fans home happy on sophomore night as they finished off the Gauchos by a score of 15-9.

Saylor Frew once again led the team in kills with 22. Samaria Longstreet (15) and Faith Webb (12) were the other two kill leaders.

Chloe Johnson put on a show, accounting for 51 of the team's 52 total assists on the night.

Priscilla Gutierrez was the team's dig leader with 28, followed by Faith Webb (18) and Saylor Frew (16).

Up Next: The Hornets will play at Golden West College on Friday, November 15th, and then finish off the regular season at Santa Ana College on Tuesday, November 19th. Both games are at 6:00pm.
