FC CLASSIC DAY 2: REVENGE WIN OVER WEST LA

On Saturday night, No. 2 Fullerton College battled it out with No. 8 West Los Angeles College for the final game of the FC Classic and brought down the Wildcats 72-58.
It was a good revenge-win for the Hornets, who had lost a tough one at West LA earlier in the season. Fullerton boasts an overall record of 10-1 and is riding a six-game win streak, while it was a rough outing in the Hornets Nest for the Wildcats, who dropped two in a row over the weekend. West LA now has an overall record of 9-3.
In the first game of the day, No. 19 Saddleback added another OT upset victory to their record shocking No. 11 San Diego City 71-68. The Bobcats ended the game in dramatic fashion thanks to a three-pointer by Abhi Acharya as the final overtime seconds ticked off the clock. Ther night before, Saddleback had upset No. 8 West LA 85-83 in OT. Big man Charlie Stallings had a huge night with a game-high 30 points alon g with 7 rebounds.
The Hornets did not hold back in the opening minutes ripping off a 18-6 run with key three-point plays from Yoda Oke, Bishop Brooks and Jaqari Miles. West LA did not hold back either setting off a barrage of treys (6 in the first half) to pull back into the game. By 9:23 mark, the Wildcats were only trailing by two (19-17). Fullerton pressed ahead in the final minutes leading to halftime with a couple big shots by Donovan Pitts that gave the Hornets a decent 39-28 advantage by the break.
Fullerton came out in the second half with the same energy as the first grabbing a 59-40 lead that was capped off by a trey by Jaqari Miles. From there, the Hornets kept the Wildcats caged averaging a 12 point lead using strong defense while shooting 51% from the floor.
Yoda Oke was the game's scoring leader with 20 points, while adding 10 rebounds for a double-double night. Donovan Pitts put up 15 points with 5 rebounds, while Jaqari Miles scored 13 with 4 rebounds. Jaedyn Patterson dropped in 8 points and Bishop Brooks contrubuted 7 points for the win.
Up Next: The No. 2 Hornets (10-1 overall) will hit the road on Wednesday, December 17th when they travel to Santa Monica College (3-9 overall) for a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is at 5:00 pm.
