The No. 1-ranked Fullerton College men's basketball team stayed red-hot Friday night rolling to a 95-71 road win over No. 23 Santa Ana College.
With the victory, the Hornets extended their winning streak to 19 games and reclaimed the top spot in the CCCMBCA state rankings. Fullerton improved to 23-1 overall and a perfect 10–0 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Dons fell to 19–5 overall and 5-5 in league play.
Fullerton came out of the gate with energy jumping out to a 12-6 lead sparked by a three-pointer and a driving layup by Bishop Brooks. The Hornets maintained control throughout the opening half carrying a 38-30 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
The Hornets continued to pour it on in the second half knocking down a barrage of three-pointers from Jaqari Miles (4-4), Donovan Pitts (3-5), and MJ Smith (2-2). Fullerton stretched its lead to as many as 26 points while cruising to the OEC victory.
From beyond the arc, Fullerton turned in an impressive shooting performance hitting 60.9% (14-23) compared to Santa Ana's 29.4%. Overall, the Hornets shot 55.2% from the floor, while holding the Dons to 44.4%.
Jaqari Miles came off the bench to lead all scorers with a season-high 28 points adding 7 rebounds. Donovan Pitts chipped in 22 points, while Yoda Oke recorded a double-figure effort with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Trey Thompson filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals. MJ Smith added 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Brayden Smith pulled down 7 boards.
