The FC women's soccer team came up just short in a tightly contested non-conference battle losing 2-1 at Cerritos College on Friday afternoon.
With the loss, the Hornets dropped to 2-3 overall on the season, while Cerritos improves to 2-5-1 on the young season.
The Hornets struck first in the 41st minute when Daisy Bautista kicked in an unassisted goal giving Fullerton a 1-0 lead. However, the Falcons quickly responded just four minutes later Jessica Arroyo's equalizing shot off an assist from Sariah Sanchez. By halftime both teams were deadlocked at 1-1.
The Falcons managed to pull ahead in the second half when Samara Garcia found the back of the net in the 65th minute on a goal that stood as the difference maker.
Despite the loss, Fullerton put together a strong offensive showing, tallying 10 shots with six on goal. Bautista led the attack with three shots, including two on frame, while Brooklyn Martinez added two attempts and Natalie Ramos, Michelle Sanchez, and Edie Pfefferkorn each contributed one shot on target.
Goalie Kyra Mangini turned in a solid performance with 6 saves in 90 minutes of action.
Up Next: The Hornets will look to regroup in non-conference-play this Tuesday, September 23rd when they travel up to Moorpark College for a 4:00 pm match.
