BIG SECOND HALF SURGE LIFTS FULLERTON OVER CERRITOS

Fullerton's win brings the team to 5-5 overall on the season, while the Cerritos loss bumps them down a notch at 2-9 overall.

The Hornets did their job winning each quarter for the win, but it was not an easy task in the first half (5 ties) as FC pushed ahead with a slim 20-18 lead by the break. Key shots by Hailey Lakey and Savannah Hernandez in the third quarter led to a 10-2 run that gave Fullerton the edge for the rest of the game.   

Shooting was not Fullerton's greatest stat of the night as the Falcons out-shot the Hornets 37.8% to 29.1%. Hustle and strong defense, however, pulled FC through giving the team ball control along with extra shots as the team pulled down 52 boards to Cerritos' 32. Second-chance opportunities led to 13 points, while the Hornet defense became their best offense scoring 18 points off turnovers.

Hailey Lakey and Erin Choi were the team scoring leaders with 12 apiece. Lakey contributed 4 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks, while Choi had 4 rebounds, 10 assists for a double-double night. Savannah Hernandez was solid with 8 points and 7 rebounds, while Jaylene Perez put up 8 points with a game-high 13 rebounds. Chloe Chang scored 7 points and had 4 steals.

Up Next: The Hornets (5-5 overall) will bring it back home next week when they host the 46th Annual Colleen Riley Holiday Crossover December 18-20. Fullerton will open with Skyline College on Thursday, December 18^th for a 7:00 pm tipoff.
