The Hornets made it three-in-a-row at home Wednesday night sweeping past Santiago Canyon College 3-0.
FC's win puts the team at 3-0 on the season for the first time in the program's history, which began in 2017. The SCC loss lands the Hawks at 0-3 overall.
The first set was not a walk in the park for the Hornets as the Hawks shadowed their every move matching every point. With the scored tied 18-18, Fullerton pulled ahead 20-18 on a kill by Samuel Chavez and a an ace by Nathan Cho. From there, FC kept its distance for a 25-21 win. Set two was all Hornets, who leapt out to a 20-14 lead before finishing it 25-17. In the third and final set, Fullerton took control early with a 10-6 advantage. After a long rally, FC pushed ahead 23-19 thanks to a nice kill by Noah Spelman. The Hornets finished off the Hawks 25-22 on another kill by Samuel Chavez.
Shon Schugk led all players with a match-high 15 kills along with 2 block assists. Curtis Lee brought down 9 kills with 3 blocks (1 solo), while Jasper Nadelson had 6 kills. Noah Spelman had 5 kills and Samuel Chavez racked up 4 kills with 3 blocks (1 solo). Keegan Martyn was all over the floor with 24 digs, and Evan Shank dished out 31 assists.
