Fullerton did its best to gain ground at first place Irvine Valley College on Wednesday but had to settle for a 0-0 tie.
The Hornets are now 7-6-7 overall and 6-2-5 in the Orange Empire Conference still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Lasers close to securing the OEC title with an OEC record of 9-3-1. Overall IVC is currently 12-7-1.
The match carried a physical tone from the start with the Hornets staying assertive in a playoff-level atmosphere. Despite Irvine Valley taking 8 total shots, including 3 on frame, Fullerton's back line stayed locked in.
It was the 9th shutout for the Hornets with goalie Steven Martinez locking up 3 saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.
