Last Tuesday, the No. 2 in state FC men's basketball team polished off 2025 with a strong 78-66 road-victory against No. 11 San Diego City.
Last Tuesday, the No. 2 in state FC men's basketball team polished off 2025 with a strong 78-66 road-victory against No. 11 San Diego City.
Donovan Pitts set it off with a game-opening three-pointer for FC as the team went on an 11-6 run that was capped by another trey by Pitts. Fullerton pushed ahead with a 30-19 lead by the second minute thanks to a lay-in by Brayden Smith. San Diego City did not fold as the Knights rallied with a 12-4 run pulling within three of the Hornets (34-31) by halftime.
Fullerton created some breathing room at the top of the second half when Yoda Oke and Brayden Smith combined for 6 of 7 free throws. Soon after, Oke added a layup handing the Hornets a 41-31 lead. FC did not let up as the team grabbed its largest lead of 20 (66-46) on a layup by MJ Smith by the seven-minute mark. A strong gameplan and defensive execution helped the Hornets finish off the remainder of the game and the year with a win.
Yoda Oke had another impressive night leading all scorers with 22 points and had 9 rebounds with 2 steals and a block. Brayden Smith and Donovan Pitts both dropped in 17 points. Smith added 7 rebounds. Jaedyn Patterson chipped in with 6 assists.
Up Next: The No. 2 Hornets (13-1 overall) will kick off Orange Empire Conference-play this Wednesday, January 7th when No. 19 Saddleback College comes to the Nest. Game time is at 5:00 pm.
