Bio
Newton is one of the top returning players to the Hornets’ lineup. Kobe averaged 13.3 points per game as a freshman and connected on 38.5 percent from three-point range for the season. Newton’s 3.1 three’s made per game ranked him ninth in the state and his 80 made three’s on the season was good for seventh in the state. Kobe was a standout scorer at Westview high school in Portland, Oregon where he averaged 16 points, six rebounds and five assists per game as a senior, earning him All-6A Metro League recognition. Newton helped Westview reach the postseason in each of his three seasons with the program and was ranked as the 62nd player in the state his senior year. His favorite sports memory was his final playoff game at Westview where his team lost a close road game to No. 1-seed Lake Oswego. Kobe chose Fullerton college because he believed that, of all the coaches who recruited him, coach Perry Webster was the most invested in his success beyond basketball. Newton is majoring in Communications with a focus on Sociology and enjoys music, traveling, learning, teaching and hanging with his dog Rocky in his free time.
