The Hornets closed out a strong 2025 campaign with a heart-filled performance at the Southern California Regional Championships held at NTC Park in San Diego last Friday morning.
Despite narrowly missing a team berth to the state meet by just three spots, Fullerton placed 19th overall out of 26 competing programs scoring 431 points in a deep field of 147 runners.
Leading the charge once again was freshman Brittany Rodriguez, who turned in another impressive race with a time of 20:13. The solid finish (35th overall) landed Rodriguez a spot at the State Championships as an individual qualifier. Her performance capped a breakout season in which she consistently led the Hornets across the finish line.
Behind Rodriguez, Vanessa Castellanos came through in 80th place (21:50), while Ximena Gonzalez followed close behind at 106th (22:50). Marylyn Glumace (24:51) and Jaelyn Glumace (26:02) rounded out the team scoring in 126th and 134th place, respectively.
All five of Fullerton's runners are freshmen providing valuable championship-level experience that sets a solid foundation for the program's future.
Head Coach Gina Bevec praised the team's determination saying, "The effort and unity in such a competitive field shows the kind of promise that will make this group a force next season."
Up Next: Brittany Rodriguez will represent Fullerton at the State Championships on November 22, 2025, at Woodward Park in Fresno with the women's race beginning at 10:00 am.
