The Hornets turned in a strong performance at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament this past weekend winning three out of four games to push their overall record to 10-5 on the season.

The Hornets turned in a strong performance at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament this past weekend winning three out of four games to push their overall record to 10-5 on the season.
Fullerton opened play on Friday morning against San Joaquin Delta and fell in a close one 12-8. Delta jumped out to an early lead with five goals in the first quarter stunning the Hornets, who did their best to make a run but came up just short. Fullerton was led offensively by Mckenna Dunning with 3 goals, while Eliana Fernandez added 2 goals. Shayla Summers (1 goal), Isabella Castaneda (1 goal), and Ava Spear (1 goal) also found the back of the net. Goalkeeper Sienna Bertsch tallied 6 saves before Audrey Jurado came in relief with 4 saves of her own.
The Hornets bounced back in their second game on Friday with a dominant 15-5 win over Crafton Hills. Dunning erupted for 6 goals, while Spear put 3 more into the back of the net. Castaneda and Addison Spoonhower each chipped in 2 goals with Fernandez and Summers scoring one apiece. Defensively, Fullerton's pressure forced turnovers and limited Crafton Hills to just one goal through the first two periods. Bertsch and Jurado split time in the cage, combining for 12 saves.
The Hornets carried their momentum into Saturday rolling past Chaffey 20-5. The FC offense was firing on all cylinders as Castaneda scored 5 goals, Spear netted 4, while Alissa Jacobs and Eliana Fernandez added 3. Summers and Dunning both scored twice, while Bertsch earned the win in goal with 5 saves.
In final game of the tournament, the Fullerton closed strong with a 10-8 win over San Diego Miramar. The Hornets were hot in the first quarter ripping off 3 goals, while holding the Jets to only 1. Grabbing a 7-3 lead by halftime, FC maintained a tight lead to finish with the win. Summers led the way with 3 goals, while Dunning, Castaneda, and Spear scored 2 each. Jacobs added another goal to round out the balanced attack. Between the pipes, Bertsch was stellar with 12 saves keeping Miramar from mounting a late comeback.
