Fullerton came out hot in the first quarter with two straight goals coming from Ava Spear and McKenna Dunning. By the end of the first, the Hornets were riding a 3-1 lead. In the second quarter, the Pirates flipped the script scoring three goals to FC's one knotting the game up at 4-4 by the halftime break.
The second half did not fare very well for Fullerton as OCC took advantage of timely turnovers (27 total) that gave the Pirates a 7-5 edge heading into the fourth. The Hornets added a goal by McKenna Dunning in the fourth, but the Pirates had too much firepower for FC to manage a comeback.
Leading the Hornets in scoring were Dunning and Ava Spear, who both had 3 goals apiece. In the cage, Sienna Bertsch had 5 saves in three quarters, while Audrey Jurado had 2 saves in a quarter of play.
Up Next: Fullerton (7-5 overall, 0-1 OEC) will try get back in the win column when they play San Joaquin Delta this Friday, September 26th to kick off the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament. Game time is at 11:40 am.
