The Hornet women’s track and field team turned in an impressive performance Friday at the Arnie Robinson Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College that was highlighted by 16 personal-best marks across multiple events.
The Hornet women's track and field team turned in an impressive performance Friday at the Arnie Robinson Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College that was highlighted by 16 personal-best marks across multiple events.
Leading the way for the Hornets was the 1600-meter relay team of Jenna Krostag, Astrid Morales, Edie Pfefferkorn, and Shiann Rivanis, which clocked a season-best 4:19.52. The team's strong finish capped a day filled with momentum and continued growth for the program.
Krostag delivered one of the top individual performances of the meet, placing second in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 57.27. She followed that effort with another PR in the 200 meters finishing third in 25.21 to solidify her status as one of the team's top sprinters.
In the distance events, Brittany Rodriguez turned in a pair of standout efforts recording personal bests in both the 800 meters (2:27.88) and the 1500 meters (5:07.25). Her versatility continues to provide a major boost for the Hornets in middle-distance competition.
The sprint group continued to shine as Jocelyn Colin posted PRs in both the 100 meters (16.03) and 200 meters (34.03), while Kaitlyn Vazquez added personal bests in the 200 meters (30.34) and 400 meters (1:11.93). Edie Pfefferkorn (1:08.37) and Shiann Rivanis (1:09.36) also notched PRs in the 400 meters contributing to a strong showing across the event.
In the hurdles, Yuvi Baltes (14.79) and Jasmine Peralta (14.64) each recorded personal best performances highlighting the team's continued development in technical events.
The Hornets also saw success in the field events where Olivia Yturraga delivered PRs in both the shot put (33'2") and discus (104'0"), while Jaelyn Glumace reached a personal best of 51'11" in the javelin.
