Fullerton played its final regular-season game at home on Friday falling to Cypress College in a solid effort 2-1.
The Hornets frustrated the Chargers in the first half with strong defense keeping Cypress scoreless.
The first-place Chargers did not score until the 68th minute of the second half. Briana Cortez put her team on top with getting past a a few defenders before poking the ball through from 6-yards out.
Fullerton felt the pressure and answered the call two minutes later with an 18-yard shot by Megan Nickerson from the outside. The assist came from Ashley Bautista.
Cypress went ahead for good with less than a minute left on a corner kick that was headed in from none other than Briana Cortez for her second goal of the day.
The Chargers win locked in a share of the Orange Empire Conference title with Saddleback College.
It was an exciting and challenging season for the Hornet squad who finished with an overall record of 7-10-2 and an OEC record of 4-9-1.
