The Hornets hosted game two of their OEC series with Saddleback on Tuesday and pushed past the Bobcats 9-3.
The victory puts FC in the driver's seat for a playoff spot as Golden West lost to Cypress today 3-1 putting the Hornets in a tie for 3rd place in the Orange Empire Conference at 9-8 with the Rustlers. With one more game left with Saddleback on Thursday, the Hornets look to finish out the regular season with a win to help secure a good spot in the post-season.
Prior to the start of the game, the Hornet coaching staff honored the two-year players for Sophomore Day with many of family members, friends, and fans in attendance. Sophomores recognized for their hard work and dedication in the classroom and field were Angelina Granado, Danielle Rivera, Milene Mendoza, Bryce Shroyer, Veronica Moore, and Jianna Lopez.
After falling behind 3–0 in the top of the first inning, Fullerton roared back with a nine-run outburst and shutdown pitching to take down Saddleback, 9–3, on Tuesday afternoon.
Saddleback (23-13, 7-10) came out swinging with 3 runs right off the bat in the first inning, but the Hornets clapped right back in the bottom of the first with 3 runs of their own. From there, the game belonged to Fullerton. In the fourth, Hope Morales rocked a RBI single, and Moore followed with a 2-run single to extend the lead to 6–3. The following inning, Ursino hammered a triple to center for another run. Arostigue brought in another on an RBI groundout.
