ALL-OEC HORNETS - FUENTES PITCHER OF THE YEAR

The All-Orange Empire Conference awards were announced on Friday with seven Hornets earning honors.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Allyson Fuentes was selected by the OEC Coaches as the Orange Empire Conference Pitcher of the Year. In 33 appearances, Fuentes threw 167 innings, had 19 wins, 8 losses, 36 walks, 112 K's, and a 1.80 ERA. 

Earning 1st Team All-OEC honors was sophomore Meah Almaraz. Playing solid defense at first base and working as one of the best hitters in the conference, Almaraz batted .336 with 41 hits, had 17 doubles, 28 RBI, 12 runs, and had 2 home runs.

Making 2nd Team All-OEC was freshman Jordan Elias. Jordan was outstanding at second base all season while batting .322 with 38 hits, 27 runs, and 10 RBI. 

Earning Honorable mention were freshmen Alyssa Garcia, Coco Siono, Serina Vue, and Dallas Garcia. 

Playing centerfield, Alyssa Garcia used her speed and athleticism catching many fly-outs. She batted .310, had 35 hits, 19 runs, and 16 RBI. 

A quick right fielder, Coco Siono led the team in steals with 11. She batted .328, had 38 hits, 18 runs, and 15 RBI. 

A spirit-lifting catcher with excellent awareness, Serina Vue had 166 putouts, while batting .303. She had 36 hits, 21 runs, and 18 RBI.

Another strong freshman righty, Dallas Garcia served as a great addition to the pitching staff. In 22 appearances, she was 5-4 overall with an ERA of 2.69. Dallas had 24 walks and 43 K's in 80.2 innings.

Up Next: The Hornets will be playing in the Southern California Regional Playoffs May 5-6.
