In an Orange Empire Conference matchup, the Hornets won big at Riverside on Wednesday night enforcing the mercy-rule on the Tigers 15-4.

In an Orange Empire Conference matchup, the Hornets won big at Riverside on Wednesday night enforcing the mercy-rule on the Tigers 15-4.
Riverside took an early lead scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st when Jazlyn Dean hit a double to left field scoring Samantha Peluffo.
Fullerton waited until the 3rd inning to put up some runs catching fire with 7. Madison Ferguson got on base on a RCC error giving Hunter Williams the chance to score. Khloe Lilavois knocked a single to left field scoring Charie Gonzalez. Celeste Borza singled to left field bringing in Lilavois and Ferguson. Gianna Alvidrez poked a single up the middle plating Borza. Another Tiger error gave Sarah Rengifo the chance to come home. Alondra Natera finished off the series by scoring on a wild pitch.
The Tigers fought back in the 4th and 5th innings cutting the lead FC lead in half at 8-4. Peluffo walked with the bases loaded forcing Catherine Martinez home. Mia Gomez was struck by a pitch forcing Leala Hernandez across home plate. In the 5th, Martinez got a base hit up the middle scoring Zinaida Preciado.
FC added a run in the 4th inning on a wild pitch that scored Natera.
The Hornets applied a crushing blow to the Tiger's hopes in the 6th inning with another impressive offensive display that produced another 7 runs. With no answer in sight, RCC took their 5th conference loss on the season.
Fullerton flexed some offensive power with 19 total hits and 15 runs. 5 players had a multi-hit game in Khloe Lilavois (4), Miranda Rooney (4), Celeste Borza (3), Madison Ferguson (2), and Gianna Alvidrez (2).
Starting pitcher Hanna Pionke grabbed the win going 2 innings with 4 hits against, 1 earned run, and no walks. Reliever Jessica Lopez gave up 3 hits, 2 earned runs, with 2 walks and 2 K's in 2 innings. Nichole Gonzalez finished off the game going 2 innings with 3 hits and 1 earned run.
