HORNETS SHINE AT BAKERSFIELD INVITATIONAL
The Fullerton College men’s cross country team put together another strong showing at the Bakersfield College Invitational over the weekend that was led by standout performances by Jonathan Mendoza and Zidane Ras, who both finished in the top ten.
The Fullerton College men's cross country team put together another strong showing at the Bakersfield College Invitational over the weekend that was led by standout performances by Jonathan Mendoza and Zidane Ras, who both finished in the top ten.
Mendoza clocked a time of 21:09 that was good for 6th place marking his best performance of the season. Just ten seconds behind him, Ras crossed the line in 21:19 to secure 9th place, which was just two seconds shy of his top mark. The pair stayed committed to the front pack throughout the race setting the tone for the Hornets with their steady pace and determination.
Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets, Noe Valdivia finished in 24:04 (59th place) and Kole Gutierrez followed close behind in 24:53 (67th place). The duo has been running close together all season and both notched their best times of the year at Bakersfield.
No FC women's runners competed as they continue to train through for the next meet.
Up Next: The Hornets will run in the SoCal Preview Meet (Manny Bautista Invitational) this Friday, October 10th at NTC Park in San Diego with a 10:00am start time.
