In a big OEC matchup at home against last year's state champion Orange Coast College, the Hornets lost a close one against the Pirates 3-2.
Each game was an exciting battle with Fullerton winning the first two 25-22, 25-22, but OCC came from behind wining three straight sets (25-22, 27-25, 19-17) to take the match.
The conference loss gives FC their first of the season at 2-1, while the Pirate win keeps them undefeated in the Orange Empire Conference at 3-0. The only other team that remains unbeaten in the OEC is Irvine Valley College at 2-0.
Four FC players recored a multi-kill match in Kyle Young (16), Garrett Geiger (11), Kevin Poku (11), and Alex Serrano (11). Shawn Stolt had 4 block assists and Young added 3. Poku had 3 solo blocks and 2 assists. Zach Huizar was all over the floor with 11 digs, while Brian Marquez kept busy with 45 assists and 2 block assists.
