The FC men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1–0 victory over visiting Cypress College on Tuesday night tying the Chargers for the 3rd place slot in the Orange Empire Conference standings.
It was a physical and defensive battle from start to finish with the Hornets breaking through late in the second half. It was in the 75th minute when Jacob Leggette broke out netting his 4th goal of the season after knocking back a PK from 15 yards out for the difference maker.
Despite playing a man down after a red card in the 73rd minute, the Hornet defense held firm behind a stellar performance from goalkeeper Steven Martinez, who recorded 5 saves to secure his 6th shutout of the season.
With the victory, Fullerton improves to 5-6-5 overall and 4-2-3 in the OEC, while Cypress drops to 8-3-5 overall and 4-2-3 in the OEC currently tying FC for 3rd place.
Up Next: The Hornets (5-6-5 overall, 4-2-3 OEC) will look to keep their late-season momentum rolling when they host Santiago Canyon College for another OEC match at 3:00 pm.
