Fullerton got the 2019-20 basketball season going on Friday night with a 91-55 win over Vanguard's JV squad in the Hornets Nest.
Ranked No. 5 in the CCCMBCA state rankings, Fullerton tussled a bit with the Lions in the opening minutes. By the 12 minute mark, FC had a narrow 12-10 lead, however things changed dramatically as the Hornets went on a 23-2 tear breaking the game open. By halftime FC held a 40-16 lead.
The second half was all Hornets as they piled in the buckets doubling the score at 61-30 with 13 minutes left to play.
Sophomore Omajae Smith led all scorers with 21 points. Jacob Eyman put up 12 points, while Luka Gelb and RJ Knibb (8 rebounds) both dropped in 11 points. DJ Houston scored 8 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Up Next: The Hornets (1-0 overall) will host San Diego Mesa College for another non-conference game on Wednesday, November 6th. Tipoff is at 6:00 pm.
