MEN'S BASKETBALL: SOCAL REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PREVIEW

This Saturday night in the Hornets Nest at 7:00 pm, the No. 1 seed Fullerton College men's basketball team will host No. 16 Allan Hancock College in the Southern California Regional quarterfinal game.

The Bulldogs ended the regular season in third place of the Western State-North Conference with a record of 7-3 along with an overall record of 22-6. In round one of the SoCal Playoffs, last Wednesday night Allan Hancock hosted and defeated San Diego Miramar in a 74-77 shootout. Featuring a trio of sophomores, Glenn Jordan leads AHC in scoring (12.2 ppg.), while Spirit Ricks is not too far behind at 11.5 ppg. Ricks leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.1 per game. Trenton Mitchell is averaging 6 rpg. with 7.1 ppg. Freshman Mike Mensah is third on the team in scoring (9.5 ppg.), and sophomore JT Riddick is putting up 9.1 ppg. Sophomore Diego Lewis is putting up 7.9 ppg.

Winning the Orange Empire Conference (10-2) outright for the second time in four seasons under Coach Perry Webster, FC is ranked No. 1 in Southern California and No. 2 in the final state poll by the CCCMBCA (25-3 overall record). 

The Hornets owe the visiting Bulldogs one after last season's 70-67 upset in the first round ending Fullerton's 2017-18 season. This season, Fullerton is a much deeper team with many more weapons on the floor.

As mentioned earlier the Fullerton bench is deep with some very skilled players. Leading the team and the Orange Empire Conference in scoring is sophomore Lance Coleman II, who is averaging 19.5 ppg, 7.6 rpg, and 2.5 apg. Sophomore big man Ronne Readus is a force in the key scoring 12.6 ppg along with 11.3 rpg. A sharp shooter from beyond the arc, sophomore Jailen Moore is an outside threat averaging 11.6 ppg. A solid scorer, sophomore Rodrick McCobb is averaging 9.6 ppg. with 4.3 rpg. Freshman Omajae Smith has grown into a threat as well scoring 7.4 ppg, and sophomore big Vaj Rice can contribute scoring 6.1 ppg with 3.8 rpg. Sophomore guard Dylan Banks can penetrate and create shots.
