MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: VELASCO - NAIA ALL-AMERICAN

Running for Mid America Nazarene University in Kansas, former Hornet long distance runner Brandon Velasco placed 4th in the Marathon this last weekend at the NAIA National Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Last season, Brandon ran his first marathon for the Pioneers at the NAIA National Championship where he placed 10th overall. At this year's event a determined Velasco paced himself perfectly moving up from 12th half way through the race before running himself into a 4th place finish. Brandon received NAIA All-American Honors for his effort.

Velasco ran for the Hornets in 2014-15 and has had a very successful college career. He is a three-time All-Conference athlete and now a NAIA All-American. He plans to move to Arizona and continue to be coached by former Hornet Head Coach Wade Watkins as well as finish his degree in accounting.
