Title: Assistant Coach

Coach Jason Smith enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Hornet baseball program.

Smith brings an abundance of experience and knowledge having coached for over twenty years. He began coaching at his alma mater Chapman University in 1995 where helped the team to two Division III World Series appearances in 1997 and 2001.

Smith was the Associate Head Coach at Irvine Valley from 2004 to 2010 where he assisted the team to its first playoff birth in 2005 and helped bring them back again in 2008. He has also coached at Orange Coast College,  OC Scorpions (Mission Viejo, CA), Players Dugout (Elizabethtown, KY), Frozen Ropes (McKinney, TX), El Centro College (Dallas, TX), and Legit Baseball (Irvine, CA), and the OC Riptide (Costa Mesa, CA).

In the High School ranks, Smith also coached at La Quinta, Costa Mesa, and Laguna Hills.

A former baseball player, Jason competed for Chapman University during the 1994 and 1995 season where he was the team captain. He was also the team leader with seven triples his senior year.

Smith earned his B.A. at Chapman and his M.S. in Physical Education at Azusa Pacific University. He also has a M.S. in Education from National University.
