BASEBALL: ANDERSON NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jake Anderson had a great three-game series playing at the Bakersfield Tournament to open the season and was chosen as week one's SoCal Co-Player of Week by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association.

Anderson finished with 15 Plate attempts going 6 for 9, hitting .667, with 3 singles, 2 doubles, and crushed a monster home run over the scoreboard in left field.

Jake also walked 4 times, was hit by pitch twice, and scored 6 runs while driving in 4 in the tourney.

Jake shares the honor with College of the Canyon's lefty pitcher Jacob Lopez, who struck out 9 batters with no walks in 8.2 innings against El Camino College.

Up Next: The Hornets are currently playing in the David Buttles Tournament and won their first game Thursday against the host College of the Desert 13-2. FC will face off against San Bernardino Valley College today at 10:00 am.

The Baseball Tournament, named posthumously for David Buttles, Roadrunners head coach from 1992 through 2007. Throughout his time at College of the Desert, Buttles collected a record of 291-307 (.486).
